DARKHAUS - Providence EP

In November 2013, the intercontinental modern rock outfit known as DARKHAUS introduced their revolutionary fusion of alternative riffs, signature electronic elements and haunting melodies to the welcoming masses. This unique group of 5 individuals from 4 representative countries was brought together via a collective passion and desire to create something new and inspiring without conforming to the usual genre clichés.

Their critically acclaimed debut album "My Only Shelter" was supported by an abundance of high-energy concerts which left audiences enthusiastically convinced of their ability to not only entertain, but to accurately represent and deliver to them their diverse collection of demanding arrangements from the stage.

In contrast to their first album (written in sunny Florida), the new songs which are featured on their sophomore effort "Providence" were composed while on tour. The difference can be heard, as the latter is much harder and edgier - the quintessence of sweaty concerts, long drives, and time spent with their devoted legion of fans. These new songs don't get lost in distant fantasy worlds, as they are a focused reflection of an unvarnished and tangible life, complete with real and sometimes painful emotions (i.e. "Side Effect Of Love") which compel the inner spirit to bounce back from defeat (i.e. "The Fire Within" ).

Why an EP? "The tracks on Providence emerged in the wake of the flood of ideas which were conceived from the energy derived from our tours. We wanted to let our creative rivers flow at a high tide of inspiration, and to be able to give something of quality to our fans until we have another full length album to offer them." Says singer Ken Hanlon.

DARKHAUS is an unusual constellation. This promising conglomerate is the brainchild of songwriter / guitarist Rupert Keplinger (whom is also known for his work with chart-topping artists such as Eisbrecher, Peter Maffay, Laith Al Deen, Der-W, etc.) and NYHC veteran / bassist Gary Meskil (voice and founder of PRO-PAIN). They are joined by the charismatic voice of Scotsman Ken Hanlon, rhythm guitarist Marshall Stephens (also from PRO-PAIN) and Paul Keller (drums).

The "Providence" EP marks the second chapter of DARKHAUS: A powerful and timely implementation of modern rock music, composed and written precisely to the point.

THREE DAYS GRACE ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM 'HUMAN' & NEW SINGLE 'I AM MACHINE'

Three Days Grace proudly announce their brand new single 'I Am Machine' taken from their upcoming album HUMAN - due for release April 27th. The album is now available for pre-order at iTunes and Amazon.

A limited edition 2 CD deluxe version of the album will be available to fans on Three Days Grace’s site. This is the bands first album with new singer Matt Walst. On HUMAN, Three Days Grace re-teamed with producer Gavin Brown who produced the band’s platinum-selling 2003 self-titled debut album.

“We went back to our roots a bit and recaptured that collaborative feeling of being in a band and bringing out the best ideas in each other,” says band member Neil Sanderson.

“Gavin was a huge part of that in the beginning and we feel like we’re back in those days where we’re high-fiving each other with guitars in our hands.”

In addition, Nick Raskulinecz and Chris Lorde Alge mixed HUMAN. The band has spent much of the year vigorously touring, writing and recording their new album.

Comments Neil Sanderson about their new single: “Sonically, we wanted to create a ‘machine-like’ sound in parts of the song. We were inspired by the images from the opening scene of Tim Burton's ‘Edward Scissorhands’…relentless machines turning and churning, never ceasing to operate. Lyrically the song is about how sometimes you feel like you are in an endless routine and cannot escape. Every day seems the same. No freedom from the vicious cycle that your life can sometimes become…no control, you begin to feel numb to the world around you, as you yearn to just feel anything, any emotion.”

Three Days Grace is Matt Walst (lead vocals), Neil Sanderson (drums, piano, backing vocals), Brad Walst (bass guitar), and Barry Stock (lead guitar).

The band holds the record with now 13 #1 singles at Active Rock Radio, more than any other band in history and has sold over 6 million albums in the United States. Their previous album TRANSIT OF VENUS was released in October 2012, debuted #1 on the Hard Rock Chart and Top 5 on the Billboard Top 200 chart, and was nominated for Best Rock Album of the Year by the Juno Awards.

NEW “MACABRE GALLERY” EXHIBITION AT GALLERYX PROMISES TO GIVE A JOLT TO THE DUBLIN VISUAL ARTS SCENE

GalleryX was founded just last year with the promise to fill a void in the Irish gallery scene by showcasing art that challenges our ideas of beauty, of right and wrong, of appropriateness.

Its third show, organised in cooperation with international curators The Macabre Gallery, brings together a set of outstanding artists – most of whom are at their Irish debut – that are active in “dark fine art”. The exhibition opens on Friday 27th March, with a preview on the 26th and will be available for viewing until May 1st.

Dark or macabre art is art that speaks to our innermost side by evoking our most hidden feelings. Often mixing together sensual and religious imagery, or playing with the beauty of death, it creates a sense of unease as it simultaneously attracts and repulses the viewer.

GalleryX is a newcomer to the Dublin gallery scene. It was founded by two outsiders, Italian Giovanni Giusti and local Fiona Killeen, who have taken over the space formerly occupied by the venerable Peppercanister gallery in Herbert Street. GalleryX wants to revive the function that galleries had in the 1960s and 1970s in Europe and in the US, that of a catalyst for art that challenges established culture and ideas.

The work that GalleryX chooses to exhibit is often deceptively accessible in style. “To have a powerful effect on the viewer,” explain the owners and curators of the space, “art must not hide behind formal statements and obfuscations. Its message must be strong and direct. We have grown frustrated with art that is only a self-referential game of mirrors; art which has no content, no meaning and no purpose; art that is only about producing recognizable brands to be displayed in the lobbies of banks and government buildings. Instead, we want to show meaningful works; works that make the viewer feel something; works that you can’t stop looking at despite yourself.”

The show opening at the end of March was co-organised with the Macabre Gallery, an online information source and gallery based in Spain.

The Macabre Gallery was founded in October 2009 as a media support and later as an online gallery for various artists active in “dark art”. Their mission is to spread dark art as a new art movement: new feelings, new sensations, new emotions, new themes and new artists. Pure art without limits or taboos.

Dark artists transmit their thoughts combining mysterious and surrealist elements. Horrible acts and macabre scenes make us stop and think about ourselves. The artwork is visually stunning, where the black predominates over all colours. Dark art is an attempt to understand human nature and its impulses.
