Hellions release new track 'Nottingham'

Hellions have today released new track 'Nottingham', another dynamic blast of punk intricacy from their phenomenal debut album 'Indian Summer', on sale February 02 via UNFD.

Complementing the pure fury of previous single 'Creasy', 'Nottingham' displays the Sydney trio's depth and thoughtfulness while retaining the chaotic edge that makes 'Indian Summer' such a monster. Says guitarist Matt Gravolin, "Nottingham is about comparative thinking and jealousy within a relationship; The unearthing of the erstwhile in cardiac landfill after incessant inquiry, begetting a mutual resentment."

Forming in early 2013, Sydney’s Hellions wasted little time in establishing themselves as a national presence. Releasing their first single ‘Infamita’ in June of that year, the group quickly racked up supports and tours with Deez Nuts, Attila and Every Time I Die before releasing their UNFD debut 'Die Young' in September. The trio’s blend of aggressive, hardcore-influenced guitar work, punk rock melodicism, frenzied percussion and the unique delivery of front man Dre Faivre all combining to form a sound and style that Hellions can proudly call their own.

Sólstafir announce different tour-drummer

SÓLSTAFIR have just announced that their regular drummer, Guðmundur "Gummi" Óli Pálmason, will not be performing during their upcoming shows. He will be replaced by Karl Petur Smith during this period.

The Icelanders comment: "Today we're in Milton Keynes ready to kick off the second leg of our European tour. It is with great sadness that we need to report to you that Gummi will not be joining us on this tour due to personal reasons. We'd prefer to leave it at that and ask that you please respect our privacy in this matter and refrain from all questions, speculations and internet rumors. We will follow up when the time is right, but for now, we're very excited to have a brilliant drummer by the name of Karl Petur Smith joining us for these shows. His extensive musical background includes playing with such acts as Rusty Anderson, Jason Falkner and Bubbi Morthens. Can't wait to see all of your faces out there!"

Please note that SÓLSTAFIR will not answer any questions regarding this topic at all!

On further news, SÓLSTAFIR have already reported sold out shows at Paris' Nouveau Casino in France on the 27th of January and in Nantes a day later as well as in Weinheim, Germany. Tickets are running low in other places as well. We strongly recommend an early ticket purchase.

FORGOTTEN TOMB putting final touches on new album

Italy's notorious black/doom metallers FORGOTTEN TOMB are on the final lap of the recording process of their next installment, having recently completed mixing duties in Sound Suite Studios (Marseille, France) with producer Terje Refsnes (Carpathian Forest, Novembre, Gehenna, Destroyer 666).

FORGOTTEN TOMB's leader Ferdinando "Herr Morbid" Marchisio commented: "We are extremely proud of how this new album came out. We worked really hard, like never before. Terje Refsnes is a really experienced producer and he managed to get the best out of us. We kept the sound very organic and natural, kinda old-fashioned but still very fresh. The new songs are heavy as fuck and they feature our classic trademark plus some new elements. It's a good mix of melancholy, groove and pure malignancy. I can't wait for people to listen to it, 'cause it's a really special album for us and probably the most extreme we did in quite a while, both musically and conceptually".

The band's eight studio album will be mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege Studio (Corrosion Of Conformity, Nails, Vallenfyre, Beastmilk, High On Fire) in Portland (Oregon, USA). A spring release date via Agonia Records is expected. Further details will be announced shortly.

ENSLAVED - ALBUM TRAILER DETAILING THE STUNNING ARTWORK FOR NEW ALBUM 'IN TIMES' NOW ONLINE

In Times is the title of the thirteenth studio album by Norwegian extreme metallers, ENSLAVED. The hand-painted artwork for the new album was created by long time collaborator and the ‘sixth member of ENSLAVED’, Truls Espedal. The band has just released the first album trailer detailing the development of the artwork - watch as Truls walks you through the painting process, here:

Truls Espedal states: “Working with oil paint and a deadline can be somewhat aggravating and I learned that red paint takes really really long to dry! But I almost made the deadline finishing three paintings and layout, all the time with IN TIMES on the stereo. I've played the album closer to two hundred times by now, and I find it to be more in every way. It sounds potent and fresh, and the tracks are just fucking inspirational. So, I went for more as well. I wanted the cover to have more atmosphere, starker contrasts and be more subtle yet dramatic. Ivar and Grutle's concept allowed me to add new elements and be more experimental, without wanting to leave the familiar. It also allowed for more diversity through the cover, especially the vinyl.

The three paintings for this release range from figurative work to very stylised, almost abstract, expanding upon the front cover. The process was also a bit different; more dynamic. A lot of the artwork was improvised, which is not typical me. I enjoyed it. And I feel I'm getting the hang of the oil paint now, so I'm really excited for next time.”

Frontman Grutle Kjellson adds: "I just love the album cover. I honestly think this is the best artwork I have ever seen. That is of course because Truls has developed the ability to transform me and Ivar’s often surreal concepts and ideas into an actual painting. This painting is the perfect projection of our lyrics, it even extends the written words. This is a picture of mythology, life, death and time. Truls has made a masterpiece, we have made the soundtrack." The main recording session for In Times took place at Duper Studios and Solslottet Studio in Bergen, Norway with additional recording sessions taking place at Conclave & Earshot Studios (run by band members Larsen and Ice Dale), as well as Ivar Bjørnson’s Peersonal Sound Studios. Additional experimentation and sonic exploration was conducted deep in the woods of Valevåg (south of Bergen), where a mobile studio recorded additional sounds.

In Times was produced by band members Ivar Bjørnson, Grutle Kjellson & Herbrand Larsen together with Iver Sandøy. Mixing was completed by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios in Örebro, Sweden.

In Times will be released on March 9th via Nuclear Blast.

Broken Lips Debut New Single And Music Video "Chains of Grudge"

California-based post hardcore quartet Broken Lips have debuted their vibrant new single and music video, "Chains of Grudge," via BryanStars. The dark landscape set by the video mirrors the haunting melodies driven into the viewer by the female-fronted act. The song is the first released by the band in 2015, delivering a pop rock gleam with a post hardcore edge — making it a must-listen for all fans of the alternative scene.

Originally from Puerto Rico, the band re-located to America where they continue to grow musically — as shown in the "Chains of Grudge" video.

"Chains of Grudge" is about moving forward in spite of everything that tries to hold you back — like mistakes, doubt and criticism. We all have elements in our life which we can't physically see, but we feel we can never overcome. This is represented by the ghost in our video. 'These chains of grudge will end when I return to dust.'" — Rubina Altreche, Broken Lips frontwoman

About Broken Lips:

After creating a buzz in their hometown with the release of debut EP “No Option But Answers," founding members Rubina Altreche (vocals) and Carlos Garcia (lead guitar) relocated the band to San Diego in 2014 and picked up Harlan Saiz (rhythm guitar) and Freddy Lovio (drums) to round out the lineup.

With a solid lineup in tact, a steadily growing fanbase, a new music video for "Chains of Grudge" release, an EP in the works — the band is more excited than ever to continue chasing their dream.
